I can confirm that the fix works with the version in intrepid-proposed.
Keeping ufw disables:
Adding a rule to an iptables chain, running "invoke-rc.d ufw stop" will then
clear this rule. After upgrading to the version in intrepid-proposed the rule
is still there.

In my case, the behaviour was caused by the extensive usage of JavaScript in
the web pages. JavaScript of the complex pages spends lot of memory and thus
the swapping on HDD was often neccesary (I have only 512 MB). I have installed
addon NoScript and my problem was solved.

Hi, I just had the same problem. There where no way to get wifi work. So
I installed dual boot, so in one partition Vista and another Ubuntu
8.10. Firstly when you turn on wifi on vista it goes of after restart,
that problem was fixed with new beos update. So now after restart wifi
satys on.

I've finished reinstalling and testing 32bit 8.10.
The problem seems to be greatly diminished. Once I had all my software
installed (system updates, Thunderbird, VMWare, restricted extras, nfs
driver, nVidia driver) Firefox was showing some symptoms of running
slower on Slashdot, but nowhere near

I would like to report I suffer the same issue.
I have determined that if the SSID is not broadcast, I can never
'autoconnect'. However, if I change the WAP to broadcast the SSID then

I'm seeing hangs occasionally booting 32-bit ubuntu 7.10 in a VM (using
2.6.22-14-server and 2.6.22-16-server kernels, haven't tried other 7.10
kernels, I also see this hang when trying a 2.6.24-16 hardy kernel in
the same VM)
I can not recall seeing this error lately (Running Jaunty and FF3.1
) Braveheart... :)

All of my units are using dual or quad-core Intels. The quads don't seem to
throw the softlock error- top just shows that one of the cores is slammed,
and everything slows to a crawl. I can't seem to be able to kill the bonding
