I have a similar problem on my Ubuntu Intrepid with 2.6.27-9-generic and a rt73usb module, and a similar workaround fixes the issue (modifying the script to remove/add rt73usb instead of zd1211rw). Is anyone planning on committing a fix to Ubuntu, to help all those with this issue that didn't manage to find this bug report?
