Anyone heard of a package for Linux that provides file services for macs via
TCP/IP instead of Appletalk? I have heard rumours of such a thing existing,
but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I have seen both CAP and netatalk, but
both of those apparently use Appletalk.

Is there a free/open implementation of AOL's Instant
Messanging Server? I think it uses their own protocol called
TIK/TOC. I've searched
freshmeat and
linuxberg and was able to find a transparent
AIM to IRC gateway (aimirc) but nothing that was pure
AIM.

netatalk works with both classical appletalk and appleshare IP...
and if I'm not mistaken appleshareIP is tcp/ip based (definatly ip)

there's a gtk based aim thingey called "GAIM" - it's on freshmeat. i
haven't used it but my boy seems to like it.

Does anyone know of a student information system (SIS) for Linux, or even
another flavor of unix? The SIS system needs to be able to handle class
registration and scheduling, transcripts, etc.
