How do you create a boot disk? I tried to install Mandrake on my 2nd hd last
night and messed up the boot blocks(: My friend showed me how to get my comp
up and running again from the windows 98 cd... but I'd feel better having a
boot disk around anyways, just in case...

Yes, I had chosen a few O'Reilly books- especially ones on learning Linux,
and one on learning networking for beginners... but are the Idiot/Dummy
books any good? I've never looked at them before in any detail. From a brief
glance they looked a bit unorganized.

shy away from Uber-technical books because I'm sure that anyone who would
REALLY be interested in reading them will already be able to buy them. I
might go for a more technical HTML/Applets/Servlets(sp?:) book because ppl

Okay, so I checked out ps -aux, like someone told me to do on irc
#linuxhelp, but I don't know enough about what I'm looking at to decide
what to 'kill' to stop the modem. This is frustrating.

done this before. The only different thing that has happened was a
