Thanks to everyone for their helpful advice about fixing my web server. We ended
up connecting a dummy terminal to the box and resetting several passwords, and
now it works fine! Much easier than i'd expected :).

was probing port 53 on his computer. The box has 1 static IP and isn't a
gateway, so no other computers are permitted to use its IP address.

able to attribute my problems to an entirely different
misconfiguration!

Due a recent policy shift at the web hosting company i work for, i have to
switch my whole FreeBSD/Apache website over to Solaris Sparc 2.6. Now i'm
having trouble making Apache with the all the modules i need.

I'm on the right track ... unfortunately i suddenly have a different task

files on my FreeBSD system. I use it like this:
