Glen,
Thanks, I didn't realize that. I guess that what I still don't realize
is whether Sendmail sets up the INBOX or whether IMAP does that. Perhaps
I'm being thick-headed but I would think that IMAP and MTA's would work
together to unite a single directory structure for mail. Please let me
kno

The only advantage to having it be a floppy distro is that I save space,
right? Right now I am just trying to get this off the ground. So first I
want to get linux onto the computer, and I am wondering what distribution,
and how much of the distribution I need. Obviously I don't need everything

Hello All,
I'm hoping for some help with the following problem. I've got RH6.1
w/sendmail and IMAP running. I want to setup a RAID for users to help
speed up disk I/O. Here's the problem. Mail is stored in
/var/spool/mail/[username]. User create folders, like those created in
pine to seperate s
Hi Harry,
You have my eternal gratitude Sir! That was exactly the problem that I was
having. Thank you very much for your excellent help.

Hey Pete,
Do you have a default route set already. If you do that interfers with
ppp, which wants to set your default route. Also give wvdial a try. It has
worked for almost all ISP's that I have used.

Hi Caity,
I tried the different types, and no success with any of them. I was able
to monitor the process via the terminal type login, and got some
interesting feedback there. After entering my name and password, I was
given my IP addresses and the ISP starting sending PPP info back to me.
Hi Rik,
I had a look at this and found that I had the same permissions and
settings. Still dies just after connecting to the server.
Thanks for the assist.

I've seen this before. You don't 'own' your home directory. Log in as
root, and run:
chown darren /home/darren

Sounds like you might not have pap-secrets set up correctly, or it
has the wrong permissions. Y
Hi,
I am having some difficulty establishing a PPP type connection from my
laptop computer. Running RH6.1 on an Acer Extensa 393C Laptop, using a
3Com 3C562D PCMCIA combo card. The system has lots of disk space, and is
currently configured with 48MB Ram. I am able to use the 10BaseT portion

(The formatting is going to be a bit wonky here, since I can't
seem to d/l any mail at the moment, given the nature of the problem.)

Hi Jennifer,
At the boot prom you should be able to type boot -s
This will bring you into single user mode. Through here you should be able
to access the hard drive to change files as needed.

As of this morning I'm getting a variety of weird messages, and while
I'm guessing they're all related somehow, I'm not sure how or why. I'm
guessing it had something to do with the fact that Gnome didn't quit quite
right last night for some reason.
If I try to start Gnome, after I type 'startx',
I don't think that the Ultra 5's come with Solaris pre-installed. At
the OK prompt you have to type boot cdrom and then it'll install the
OS. If there's no way for you to get the Solaris CD, let me know, I may
be able to help.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I just got a new Sun Ultra 5 and now I
can't boot it. It goes through the boot process and then the screen goes
blank when it gets to the login window. I have no idea how to change
this. I am never able to login so I can't change config files. The only
