...well, we've tried flashing the BIOS. Halt achieves a reboot (same as it
did before) rather than the system powering down. Any suggestions,
eg. kernel versions to use etc? My current kernel is 2.2.10- someone did
suggest something about kernels before but I've lost the message,
unfortunately.

You need to configure the box as a masquerading gateway to your subnet.
You will need to configure the DHCP client. There are a number of tools
for that available (pump I believe is a DHCP client configuration tool),
do not bother with Linuxconf. Some cable modems allow the use of a
static IP. For

Change msdos to vfat in the fstab. Line 4 is probably the filesystem
type that it's complaining about. I don't believe "auto" is valid.
The vfat option mentioned above assumes you have vfat support in your
kernel. Do a cat /proc/filesystems to see if it is supported.

some of my other locations. I should be able to say location a be given 64
K, location b 25 k and so on using the bandwidth managment software. Typical
