Actually the original intent of this discussion was with regard Twitter,
which does have a character limit. How it deviated to text messages in
general, I'll never fully understand.

your sighted husband was saying the display was saying 160 and it wasn't
changing? If so, that sounds like a bug in the software on the phone. If
it's important to you, you may want to see if there's an update for your
phone.
