Front-end developers…
Not all SWORD/JSword front-end apps have a UI control to show/hide/select
variants in modules that have
GlobalOptionFilter=OSISVariants
specified in the conf file and with the related markup in the OSIS textsource.
The new module FreVulgGlaire currently in CrossWire Beta

time of the setting change, it requires changing the Bible being used to a
different one and then back again in order to refresh the display of the
text and have the accents shown."
Got it!
And unlike other filter switch
Tim is right.
Modules TR and WHNU do not include this line in the conf file.
GlobalOptionFilter=UTF8GreekAccents
It would be a simple enough task for these modules to be updated to include
this line.

Whatever one might think as a textual critic about the presence or absence of
diacritical marks in the original Hebrew of the Tanach, there's a strong
sense that such consideration should not come into this technical
discussion.
The simple truth is that each SWORD module aims to reproduce a clearl
It seems that you are correct regarding the rendering of Tisch on PocketSword,
however if one uses the 2TGreek module which includes Tisch., it does have the
option to show the Greek accents. It seems though that if one is viewing the
2TGreek module at the time of the setting change, it requires
Yep, *PocketSword* hides both Hebrew vowels and cantillation. :(
And then there's *UTF8ArabicPoints*.
Yet strangely enough, *PocketSword* does show the points in (say) the
*AraNAV* module.
There's a strange inconsistency within this topic.
I suppose this came to the scene later than Greek & Hebre

Also Hebrew vowel points and cantillation.

Even with only two variants supported by SWORD, it manages to get things
wrong!
e.g. Xiphos has module options for selecting variants:
* Primary reading
* Secondary reading
* All readings
Yet when the user selects *Primary*, the *Secondary* reading is displayed,
and /vice versa/!
This is not a
While SWORD only supports two variants currently, what would actually happen
if a module also contained a third variant at any particular location?
Would it be shown or hidden?

How many other front-ends can already display variants?
Please record the answers in the new row I have inserted in
https://crosswire.org/wiki/Choosing_a_SWORD_program#Module_Support
I have recorded what Xiphos does.

The need to form parallel arrays is not something that can be validated in
the OSIS schema, especially if we merely adapt the *seg* element to markup
each part of the array.
A location with a *seg* element for variant 1 but no *seg* element for
variant 2 will still validate.
If we input such an X

The idea was prompted by my correspondence with Terence Noble in Vancouver.
He's the editor of the modern spellings Wycliffe 2012 Bible.
These have been published as Kindle e-Books.
I had been working with his agreement towards making a SWORD module,
but I got stuck over some technical matters, an
No variants doesn’t make sense to me. How do you envision that being useful?
The basic idea of a variant is that the base text is variant 1. Showing variant
1 gives the base text.
The second text is variant 2. Showing variant 2 gives the second text.
Showing no variant will only show the text i
I've been discussing OSIS variants with DM.
A proposal has been documented here:

Please review.

Three years ago, I read that currently, "SWORD does not support more than two
variants".
Is this still true?
