It could be turned off. But some people said that the option would work
with their Astra 2200 scanner, thats why I did not disable this option.
May be it depends on the scsi controller or it=C2=B4s driver, I am not su=

I recently upgraded to 2.6.10 from 2.6.9, hoping to address some scsi
issues with cdrecord and xsan
There are several timing settings defined for the Astra 2400S.
You also have to use these settings for your vendor/model definition.
Take a look at umax.c and search for "Astra 2400S", near line 2817.
Please send umax-scanner.c to me then I will include your model
into the next sane release.
