The log looks OK, this means that it is more likely that the problem
really is in XSane.
I have no idea why the scan gets cropped, this is also something that

is in a better position to comment on.

Could you please do some debugging so we can find out what's wrong?
E.g. "SANE_DEBUG_EPSON=255 xsane 2>log" and show us the log (

Yesterday I upgraded to sane 1.0.12 and xsane 0.92. Experienced seg
faults when invoking xsane. I commented out "epson" in dll.conf and
added "epkowa". This forced sane to use the Epson Kowa backend

great. You might try an

I am trying to get an Epson Perfection 1660 Photo working with Linux
RedHat 8.0. I have failed to scan any images, the majority of my problem
seems to be that the scanner is not visible to one of the subsystems.
I am going around in circles - ever decreasing ones...

You should not have to manually edit the file modules.usbmap: It gets
created / updated when you run /sbin/depmod -a=20

John,
First, edit /etc/modules.conf adding the line "options scanner
vendor=0x4b8 product=0x11e". Make sure that the scanner module is
loaded with "modprobe scanner". Then edit /etc/sane.d/epson.conf
adding the line "usb /dev/usb/scanner0". You should now get a
response to scanimage -L.

Hi.
I have been trying to get my scanner to function on a computer rAMD 1Ghz
running Linux (RedHat 7.3 also tried Mandrake 8.2) The computer recognizes
the scanner and its ID codes but Xsane gives a message "Cannot find drivers".
I have tried to follow the various leads from the internet but no

As XSane does not contain such an error message I guess John means "no

I've never seen this message. It sounds like a problem with your
Sane installation. Maybe Oliver can shed some light on this.
