Could it be your hardware? If possible, you might want to try scanning with a

Hello,
I'm using an Epson Perfection 1250 with xsane-0.996/libsane 1.0.20-9.
I'm having a few issues with it, even though it is listed as fully
supported.
First, acquiring a preview can take several minutes. I'll click
"acquire preview" then I'll hear a click noise, and then after a few

Hi,
Has anyone tried to force the transparency adapter to turn on during a normal
scan ? I m thinking of scanning medium format negatives.
While I m at it, would it also be possible to turn off the light of the
scanning CCD ?
The config files do not deal with these custom tweaks.

The subject says it all. My typo's in files cost me a day almost

Some progress has been made but still the subject scanner is not
working in Linux. I am using Red Hat 8 Linux which has the sane backend
version=1.0.8 and the subject scanner is connected to a USB port. With
earlier help I was able to assure that sane can find the scanner and

XSane is "only" the frontend (application), the version of the drivers
(sane-backends) is more interesting. scanimage --version shows that

So where's the problem so far?
You need an already installed and working usb subsystem
with the scanner module loaded.
You'll need at least SANE-1.0.9 installed and the plustek.conf
file set to your device...
TPA means TransParency Adaptor and is delivered with the
EPSON 1250 Photo.
That's all.
Sorry Gerhard, I'm using Red Hat version 8 which has Xsane version 0.84
installed. The usb subsystem may or may not be working. I see it come up
while booting up but I don't know how to tell if it is working.
Here is my stab at the plustek.conf file but I have no idea what I'm
doing

I have the subject scanner and was told to check the plustec web

Alas it's greek to me. I already know the numbers for the

Hi,
there's no need to do a "make install" or something like
that. Simply configure the usb section of the Plustek backend.
The pt_drv stuff is a kernel module to support the older
Plustek parallel port devices. The USB-backend stuff is
already built-in

I purchased an Epson 1250 yesteday, assumming that since the 1240 and
earlier were supported that the 1250 would work. Foolish foolish me. But
none of the stores around here sell 'supported' USB scanners, which is
quite irritating.
So I saw the support of the Plustek fro the LM983x (1250),

Hi,
the calibration for non Plustek devices is currently far from beeing
perfect. The plan is to integrate the calibration from the National
Semiconductor Sources to have at least better results.
You may want to do this, feel free to contribute...

Hi altogether,
all right, I just compiled and installed plustek-sane-0_41_102. This
works much better than before. Now, green and blue are recognized right
(in addition to red, which already worked before). Great work!
But, when doing a scan with nothing put into the scanner, and scanning

Hi Uwe, hi lists,
I've currently put the test-version 0.41-102 onto the Plustek
driver downloadpage at
http://home.t-online.de/home/g-jaeger/plustek.html
You will find the files at the download section in the test area.
They're called plustek-sane-0.41-101.tgz.
The files are patches against SAN
