There is potentially an issue with black level calibration. I have
a patch but I'd have to check if I got that right. Let me know if you

Do you have "quality calibration" option set? Are you scanning in

A more detailed debug log might reveal what's wrong.

Right, I think I should just do a regular scan with no film, and then
with a fully exposed film instead of just some unspecified "black"
area.

Actually it is "newer" consumer scanner, just a bit low-end and I think
it needs some more software tweaking.
