Dear Wrenches,
I have a meeting scheduled with a local jurisdiction that charges
substantially more for permitting and inspections than other AHJ's. Any
idea where I can get national statistics on permit costs for solar water
heating?
Also, what is your jurisdiction doing for plan review an
Happy Monday Morningany of you all heard of a NEMA 4 or 4x load center
that can be mounted on a slope like the midnite solar or outback power
rooftop combiners.? AC Single phase, 6 space, 60-100A, with a main
breaker?
Proving difficult to locate

Allen:
I asked you about a generator since the future addition on one might
influence your selected solution.
The GenReady ATS does not include any load-shedding control algorithm
based on AC input voltage (representing full load/overload sensing) that
would have to be left unused.
Search for Battery Refractometers on eBay, I got a nice one for under $25 from
China, exact same item I've seen here in the U.S. for >$70. I keep a small vial
of distilled water in the pouch for calibration, just a drop each time is all
it takes. They often include a scale for Antifreeze reading
Hi Jeff,
How much do you "clean or rinse" your unit between each cell?
I'm trying to figure out how much I need to do between each test.
thanks,

I am looking for an external output bypass assembly for a Xantrex 3 x
XW4024 system. My customer wants to be able to completely bypass the
inverter output and operate loads straight from the grid - similar to
what can be done in an Outback FlexWare system with their I/O bypass
assemblies.
This cus
Hi Jason,
How about a standard 60a 2 pole mechanical transfer switch?

Jason,
If you don't find an off-the-shelf product, try Midnite - Robin has
custom-built weird stuff for me.

Jason:
A possible solution might be a 3-pole / 3-wire manual transfer switch,
or an automatic transfer switch that has manual transfer capability.
If the three Xantrex XW inverters are in a WYE configuration and set up
as a "separately derived system", you will need a 4-pole / 4-wire ATS so
Jason:
I faced a similar dilemma when I installed my first triple XW system. The
dilemma had two aspects: 1. How can I configure the system to allow the
customer to manually bypass with either the generator or the grid inputs?
and 2. How can I fit all of the input and output circuit breakers

who is a heavy duty mechanic ordered it for me a few years ago from his Mac

Wrenches,
Has anyone tried to do a grid-tie AC coupled system with a Trace/Xantrex SW4024
inverter and a GT inverter? Is the Trace's stepped waveform an issue for the GT
inverter?

Hello all,
I posted a week ago about the awful off-grid install at a local hunting shack
and we are now moving on to the re-build portion of the job. I've been looking
at the Magnum Energy MS series inverter/charger. I'd like to also use Magnum
mini panel for the geny, DC loads, and AC loads.
Its not necessarily overkill with the well pump. The pump horsepower
pretty much dictates the system minimum requirements. What is the HP?
Overall, I like Magnum's stuff. You might be able to get by with the
MM1500 watt inverter (mod sine) Are you planning on using Midnite's
panel? I've been p
