Bob,
Check out S-5's website and look for the VersaBracket and also under the tab
"How Strong and Load results" you can find the metal panel manufacturer and
see what options they have for that style. The VersaBracket has Butyl tape
on the bottom that is factory applied. I have used it before and
Hi Drake, Geoff,
We did a test installation in northern British Columbia with 28kW of PV
and GT5 inverters selling to a 90kW Genny system in a remote off-grid
community. So far we have just stuck to the normal 1741 islanding
settings, and the system has been working smoothly. The PV was basical

Yes - the pay as you go metering was a key aspect of this system. Even though I
think the residents are only paying about 7 cents per kWh putting the meters in
caused a dramatic drop in consumption!

Hi Mark,
That looks like a great installation. Is the max that can be fed
into a generator mini grid 15%?
Since the system was able to keep the UL 1741 settings, that means
this setup could feed both a utility grid and a generator mini grid,
using the system transfer switch.

This thread started with a simple question, but it shows exactly why there is a
sub-group of us on the another wrenches list trying to work out a national
installers association.
There is a huge influx of solar "installers" coming into this field and

With a modern paralleling controller (Wexler, higher-end Deep Sea, etc.)
managing the appropriate regulator and governor and communicating with
the inverter, you can pretty much do anything.
HI All
This system is very large and is out of my experience range. BUT I have
seamlessly integrated a 40 HP motor and a grid/generator/solar tie. We also do
a related lab experiment in my solar class. Voltages may make these methods
prohibitive in your case prohibitive in your case. This i
Hi Drake - the limit in the PV in this case was so we could not exceed
the minimum load in the subdivision, to make sure there was no back feed
to the generator.

Bob,
For a top down anchor, check out Fab-Lok stainless steel fasteners. It looks
like these are made by Fabco Fastening Systems (Camcar/Textron). They are
described as "high clamp-up", "weather tight" fasteners. I'm not sure that
they are strong enough for this application. (Maybe someone will su

Oh brother, that 230.72(A) is a nightmare.
TVA and their 160 distributors are in the process of going to a line side feed

Actually they plan on letting the distributor offer either or both options at
their discretion.
I'm laying out a job today with

The methods that I use on "Feed in Tariff" or REC When they are based on value
of renewable energy generated, you come from the inverter to the utility
(general purpose switch)Disco to the meter THEN to the main service panel end
of bus breaker. The energy generated from solar is then read on
