the generator shuts off when its finished, you need to do a little trick.
Setting the cursor to EQ just means the system will perform an EQ the next
time the genny runs, and that might be some random time in the future.

You must have a different manual than I do. Paragraph 5, page 12 of the
4.01 manual I have does not discuss this subject at all.
The passage I have, from page 68 says the following:
To manually equalize the batteries, AC power must be available at the AC
HOT IN 1 (utility power) or AC
I'm not sure which part of the manual to which you refer, but below is how I
interpret the middle of the fifth paragraph on page 12 of Version 4.01 of
the book:
If the inverter is set up to remotely control the generator, select
