The pull-out strength depends primarily on the gauge of the purlin. A #14,
which I believe equals ¼, ranges from 141 lbs (26 ga) to 4,550 lbs (3/16
plate), according to Dynamic Fasteners catalog, page 67..

Both require additional work to install, but are worth knowing the connection
is solid (no spinnners).

To use a 1/4" fastener with an L-foot mounting slot that's bigger, one could
use a "shoulder washer" or a "flange bushing". Those might be good search
terms to use at, say, mcmaster.com
One must wonder if the pull-out resistance of the 1/4" Tek screw is adequate
for the wind-loading etc. There's s
HI Guys,
Check out dynamic fastener,

Hello Wrenches,
Pulling up this thread from earlier in the year. I have a couple of
upcoming jobs where I am attaching PV mounting structure as follows
Job 1) LFoot to metal roof into Z purlin, and Job 2) FastJack to metal

In both of the applications I'm considering the Tek

Peter,
Would a #12 2" self-driller with a carbon steel shank and stainless steel
hex head with attached washer do?
I use the T-5 Scots screws that I get from Dynamic Fasteners.
I use them to attach ProSolar al. mounting rails directly through roof metal
and into a 14g or 16g z-bar purlin.

Peter:
I like M&M Fasteners - pretty good at finding anything in stainless. I buy
plain SelfTapping ss teks from them all the time. I haven't checked pricing
lately but they have always been competitive in the past.

Does anyone have a source for stainless steel, self tapping Tek screws? I
could use some #10/3-4 and #10/1-1/2. If they have the little cap and
neoprene washer that would be even better!
