We designed and built a custom solar power system for an alarm company about
4 years ago. They were installing the system on an un-occupied warehouse
that had no electricity. The two things we had to address was make sure we
had correct voltage/current battery charging arrangement as we di

Alarm systems typically already have batteries. Usually 9 or 12 Ah VRLA.
For an off-grid version, I would size the battery based on the once a year
event where the alarm is going off non stop for two days. That should also give
some cloudy weather storage.
