Kris,
As far as I know, taps to GECs need not be irreversible. I believe you
might be thinking of the NEC 250.64(C) requirement for GECs to be installed
"in one continuous length" or otherwise be spliced together via one of
several options, with one option being to use irreversible compression-typ
It's really interesting how different our experiences and perspectives are
on these issues. I know a close colleague who still loves SolarEdge. We're
still friends. :)
I have also heard the XX%+ failure rate on M-Series experience before,
which I find strange. I'm not suggesting it's not true, but
I will never promote, support, or use Enphase products again. My personal
decision is a result of a 50% plus failure rate of the M series, as an
early adopter. Now I am admittedly biased, regardless of their reputation
now.
Enphase tried to make it right, and I'm still replacing the replacements o
Matt, are you not getting labor reimbursements on M190 microinverters that
had 25-year labor warranties? I have few systems that meet that criteria,
but I have been able to get labor reimbursement on them. Although, I don't
recall doing any in the last several months. I'm guessing all of the M190s
I'm not going to defend Solaredge here, there are clearly better ways they
could handle account transfers but the rah-rah Enphase conclusion is maddening.
It wasn't that long ago Enphase did something far worse when they dropped their
labor warranty and then told basically every m-series custome
The Midnite AIO has an APSmart transmitter built in. I will probably use
that going forward for off-grid systems that require RSD.
I never regretted sticking with Enphase, even after the early failures, but
to be fair, my business hadn't ramped up much until the M250 came out, so I
didn't have a t
Anybody got any recommendations for grid tied inverters especially ones
that work with APSmart? I'm seeing a serious need for alternatives and not
sure if I'm ready to go all in with enphase yet as I still have customers
out there who got burnt from their early years and lack of compatability

I just wrote a scathing blog post, notified my staff not to take on new
SolarEdge service clients, and blasted out messages and DMs on social media
about this despicable new move by SolarEdge. Imagine being one of the many
system owners impacted by solar contractors going out of business, only to

When I fill out the online form to transfer an existing SolarEdge system to
my company for monitoring, the site now takes me to a payment form
demanding $99 to transfer the site monitoring.
I have been told that as of 2/17/2025, SolarEdge has a new policy, and now
changes for transferring a site t
If it’s for a New Mexico installation, you might call Jeff at Solar Rackworks
in Albuquerque and will call to save shipping. Beautiful racks, and custom if
necessary. 2x6.

No comment other than there ought to be a place on the list where "in
the weeds" type subjects can be discussed.
Totally agree that if you do not want to see off topic comments the
current policy is fine.

So Todd,
What part of the idea or premise that an industry which produces, distributes
and sells electric energy to end users at great profit, in PG&E's case at
least, desires to exclude self generators from their grid and plans, lobbies
and in fact conspires with other industry stakeholders to
I’m looking for some recommendations of low profile ( it’s an HOA) portrait
ground mounts. Could be 6-12 panels wide, 400 wattish.
Flat ground, minimal clearance needed.
Thanks in advance

Hi Kris - We use C-taps all the time - if you search for c-tap connector
you'll see plenty of results with Burndy being a big player in the market.
Depending on your wire sizing, you might be able to use the thin wall
variant which requires a smaller tool and overall are lower cost. If you
need to
Hi All,
What are you all using for an "irreversible" tap to an existing GEC? I
have been looking at compression CTAPs. Do they require a special crimper
die?
Thanks,
Kris
