Colleagues: Thanks everyone for the feedback. This is someone else's installation but I want to know what to say if the inspector questions this part of the system. William Miller At 07:20 PM 10/25/2011, you wrote: Romex sheath is not generally considered much protection. The intent of th

Romex sheath is not generally considered much protection. The intent of the code is that the tap wires that are not adequately protected by the feeder over current protective device have hardened physical protection. My read is that they need to be in conduit or some substantial enclosure.

IMHO no one makes a better inverter than Exceltec. However, in these large stacks the idle current can really add up under low to no loads. You should look at average draw and do the quick math to see if it makes sense as you'll need to add additional generation to offset this. To my knowledge t

Dan: As I read it, the ampacity of the wire need only be 1/3 of the OCP. And yes, the OCP for this tap is the 200 amp main, although it can be construed that the circuit breaker at the down-stream end of the feeder provides protection as well (if you short the bus the feeder is supplying, the

William, The tap conductor ampacity must not be less than the rating of the breaker protecting that circuit, which in this case (if I understand the configuration correctly) would be the main breaker in the panelboard. Any smaller gauge would require its own OCP device of appropriate rating if it

The sensitivity to AC voltage has not changed in any model of SMA inverter. The parameters required by UL are still +10% & -12%, in relation to nominal AC Voltage (240, 208, 277) The reason that some units may seem more sensitive is that every circuit board in each inverter is calibrated to the

Friends: A prospective client has a 200 amp meter / main / combo. There are only a few breakers in it feeding the well, the pool house / barn and the garage. There is no breaker feeding the sub panel in the laundry room that has all of the branch circuit breakers for the house. Instead ther
