Personally, I would just buy the correct stem.
If you do want to modify the stem you already have, I would use a brake
cylinder hone, generally available at local auto parts stores, Open it up
as little as possible, leave as much metal as possible. You can also use a
stem spreader (or snap ring spr
) once on my green Bombadil with Bullmoose bars, but that is more the
exception than the rule. A Sam Hillborne or better yet an A Homer Hilsen
would make excellent road bikes if you cannot find a Rodeo. A Roadini would
also be an excellent choice if you do not need lugs on your frame.

side. They are not necessarily symmetrical. Some sizes are, some sizes are

Selling a Bombadil to get a TIG frame just seems wrong, kind of like

components off of the Bombadil and retaining the frame, if it is mostly a

Handlebar shims are the worst. Unfortunately I like the Nitto lugged stems
which are 26.0 and all of the handlebars that I have (except for the Frank
Jones Sr) are 25.4. Add in that the Nitto shims are two piece and larger in
