City temps. Having lived in Colorado Springs, "cold' weather in
Northern California feels practically balmy.

This is slightly off-topic for this thread, but I can't help admiring
your dynamo hub and light.
I just got a Schmidt Edelux light. I would like to mount it on my
Nitto mini rack.
Can you tell me which mount you are using and where you got it?
Thank you,
Corwin

Is the rear derailleur compatible with friction shifting?

I'm in the queue for something relatively light (in the Rivendell
sense - not the MCRB sense) and nimble.
I have nothing against frames without decals - but I am looking
forward to having a custom bike with the Rivendell headbadge, Joe Bell
paint job, etc.

You may think I am paranoid, but I would never use a U lock or a cable
lock on a bike I am leaving outside. I see way too many broken u-locks
and cut cables.
Whenever possible, I use attended bike parking - we are very fortunate
in the SF Bay Area to have several such facilities. If you frequent

I asked Mark a couple weeks ago if downtube bosses were available on
the Roadeo. Mark said they were an extra cost option from Waterford.
As I recall, the cost was $50.

I don't have dedicated indoor bike storage at work. But in the
Rivendell spirit, I just take my bike to my office. I figure it's safe
there (bikes get ripped off regularly in the parking lot - locked or
not), and I sold a Saluki by bringing my Quickbeam to work.

Hi -
I will take your Schmid Son 28 in silver off your hands if you still

As the proud owner of a Quickbeam, I felt compelled to update this
thread with the URL for the Flickr Quickbeam Group Pool slideshow:

It is a great slideshow.

Hoping to see lots of Rivs on the Grizzly Peak century. I'm limiting
myself to the north loop though.

I would be up for rides both before and after the reading. A ride to
Fred's in Sausalito beforehand sounds great. Perhaps we could ride
around the Presidio afterward.

three hours to ride 50 miles over hill and dale. That would require a

I like the San Francisco route as well - but it seems more suited to the
afternoon ride.
Perhaps we could trim the route in Marin a little bit?
My 2 cents.
