I'm sure it wouldn't do with a decaleur, but so what. The bag sits
very solidly and comes on and off pretty easily. The strap that sells
with it is also very well done.

So yesterday was my fourth time riding the 3 Capes 300k and it was
quite fun. This will probably be my last brevet on my Hilsen as my
custom rando bike will be on the road soon. The Hilsen seemed to
really shine in yesterday's configuration. I reinstalled my Berthoud

I agree with Mike's suggestion to "go big" for a handlebar bag. The
additional capacity is useful for longer rides (and, I assume, brevets
although I don't ride in those events). There's little weight penalty
in having a large bag, and it doesn't have to be loaded to the gills

I like the idea of the longer bolt and nylock nut. I'd need a large
washer for the top - the bolt is special, with a wide head (and sloppy
socket interface). The ideal setup would be bolt, washer, shifter,
washer-with-a-tab, boss, nylock nut.
The washer-with-a-tab would stand the shifter off the s

I'm sure you have put a lot of thought into your design.
Why do you make the stem attachment part out of two
pieces rather than one?
Berthoud makes theirs that way because they have to be adjustable
to fit on any bike, but yours are custom and made to order for a specific
bike.

I know Riv recommends a large big back rack for frames sized 57cm (+).
Does that still apply to the Bleriot or other 650b models?

I hope to savor each step in the build process - I'm torn whether to

Yeah, O20 is across from the original Bike Kitchen, too.
You can go build your own from random steel for cheaps.
Then when you get tired, go next door for awesome ice cream (Scoops).
Or across the street to vegetarian mexican / barbeque (Pure Luck). It's
actually not bad.
