I havent had very good luck with zip ties-- they seem to break and
when they do it leads to others breaking and then you have complete
catastrophic failure. I have used several different types of zip ties

It seems to have been a design goal to make the load ride higher. See
the description of the product on the site, or just its name =).
Take it or leave it - Riv/Grant does not seem to be into making
lorider racks. Anyway there are already plenty of nice ones out
there.

The Bar Box has my attention. I am putting together my latest touring
bike (an odd obsession of mine).
I was going to use my Ortlieb Ultimate 5 handlebar bag. It is nice,
but using it requires you to install a mount on the stem and leave it
there. On shorter rides when you don't necessarily nee
Hello,
I have a Quickbeam with Marathon Supremes (700x40) tires. I
absolutely love the tires. Right now i have the default gearing 18t
on one side of the rear hub and would like to install a 16t freewheel
on the other side. So here's my question...if I wanted to flip the
hub to its other side,
It will be ok. Some tire manufacturers actually advise running the
rear tire "backwards" (relative to the default 'chevrons pointing
forward').

Given a choice between a rack that mounted through the brakes or on
seperate bazeons, I would always opt for seperate. How will these
racks mount to bikes w/out canti breaks? It looks like a design with
limited frame options. Right now Riv is only offering the Atlantis w

My Conti Top Touring 2000s are marked exactly this way. I surmised that systmer
is to provide the best cornering in front and traction in back. I've read
elsewhere that it makes little, if any, difference.

Would think that rack would be optimized for the Bombadil. A good off-
road touring rack. Where folks might want the bags higher for ground
clearance.
It might also work well with my Hillborne.
Actually think it's nice looking.

The description says it'll mount via regular connecting rods to either frame
braze-ons or p-clamps and that you need special bolts to mount it to canti
bosses. You can see i
I think I still have one of those magnetic fold-flat signs. If

I really liked it also but am wondering if the straps attaching the
the brakes would be irritating in the long run.

My mistake. I guess i was put off by the photo of the oddly installed
rack and didn't read the description all the way through. However I
now see the weight listed as "about 2 lbs. 15.5 oz." I'm assuming
that's a typo.
It's actually not a bad looking rack, just oddly presented.

I also read Grant's post differently...oh well. I can't imagine the
