Hi,
This is perhaps a strange question but I am hoping to draw on the list's
collective experience and wisdom as I try to figure out what price to ask
for a frame. It is a 58 cm Rambouillet in fine shape with S&S couplers.
New total cost including couplers and custom forest green paint was about

Agreed about Blue Heron. It's less flashy than some of the other
shops but they really know vintage parts and bike. Go see mechanic,
Louis Orsini. He works on my Rivendell custom and our other, vintage
road bikes. Sue, the owner, has ridden a number of brevets with me.

I don't think I would put it on ebay without establishing some
minimum. Assuming its in very good condition, I would think that
would be at least 70 % of its replacement cost, without a custom paint
job. Around $1600 sounds fair. I have a Ram. and an Ebisu All

Thanks for the input. There's nothing worse that lube that does
spatters. I've used pro-link for along time, and I'll stick to that
for now. I may try some home brew thoughmineral spirits and Mobil

That is one BEAUTIFUL bike. You are making my decision (whether to
purchase a Bombadil) an easier one.

Unless someone is absolutely wedded to the desire for a Rambouillet, I
don't think they would compare it to a retrofit. Bilenky, for example,
charges $1550 for a lugged, delux level frame, with $400 for the S&S
couplers. I don't know if that includes a 2 tone paint job, but it
does establish a $2
A very nice looking bike and very thoughtfully kitted out. From
whence came the light attachment?
Perhaps not a question for you, and from someone who has never owned a
mountain bike what is the rationale for the double top tube on
this bike. It gives the bike a heavy look.

Thanks Michael for those nice words about my bike. The light attachment
came with the light. It did have a longer bolt - long enough to go thru the
front fork if you wanted to mount it that way. I just replaced the long
bolt with a shorter one, and attached it directly to the front rack.

The question is not what it is worth, but what you are willing to
accept, how long you can wait, etc. To the right buyer, who wants that
exact thing, even a high price will seem fair, but that person may not
come along right away. For a quick sale, ask $800, and it should sell
pretty fast.

Wow Dick,
Looks great. Same color as my Hilsen but with more lug windows to fill
in.

Love the color, looks great on the Bomba and the AHH. That second top
tube is for strength and triangulating fortitude.

Couldn't get a better crank for the Bomb than the Zephyr TA. Lucky
you for having tracked one down. The bike looks great. Nice photos
too.

Thanks for the nice words Joel. I agree about the crank. I accumulated
many of the components over the 20 month waiting period. That little Canon
G9 takes great photos - I just keep it set to "auto". See ya.

Silly idea - has anyone ever made interrupter-style levers in the
shape of guidonet brake levers?

Considering how long the ramps are on some bikes it seems like it
might be a nice combination.

Really fine build-up Dick. Color reminds me of a cool frosty mug of
root beer on a hot day. Even has the creamy head! First I've seen
white background on the decals - is that an option depending on the
color, or did you request something special?
Cheers!

Hi Marty. Thanks for the nice words. Funny you should mention the root
beer - I'm sitting at my computer sipping a can of diet root beer right now.
As far as the decals go I think they use the white ones with certain colors.
