GP has written a few times about the development and decision to go with the
second top tube. There's also an article about it in the most recent Reader.

I've ridden one, and Gino had a nice writeup on his blog about test riding
one at length.  If the second tube makes it look "heavy" (and I think I'd go
with "indestructable"), it rides light.
