Gentlemen, please - we need some positive indicators of how 2009 is
going to play out. These are not good signs...

35 beautiful shining faces showed up yesterday for the Casa Grande
Ruins 200K in Casa Grande, AZ. A marvelous day ensued in the desert
despite a chilly start.
In a stoke of GOOD luck, about mile 70 I saw a baggie with some paper

Looks like you could fit a Harley Davidson tire in that front fork.

Thought all might enjoy some photos taken around north Tucson this
past week.
Weather was in the 70s, not a cloud in the sky.
My wife and I took advantage each day, either running errands, taking
a few long rides, or appropriately detoured combinations.

Yesterday my pal and I were riding up in Palo Alto Foothills Park
when he experienced rapid rear tire deflation
on a steep climb.
Turns out he had ridden his tires till there wasn't any rubber left
on significant portions of the rear wheel.
He replaced the tube and put

Thanks for sharing Chris! I went to college at the UofA and was just
there to ride El Tour and road several of these roads. Oro Valley was
beautiful in particular. Can't wait to go back on uncrowded roads on
my almost-ready-probably-by-spring Riv custom. Cheers!

Variation on an older theme, in part prompted by the Sam-as-mountain
bike and Atlantis sizing threads. Speculatively speaking, how are
y'all seeing the AHH to SH comparison? Historically torn b/w the AHH
and Atlantis, I've read with interest the description of the Sam
Hillborne as a middle groun
That flat black is a perfect fit for the bombadil's manly profile,
great choice.

Enjoyed the pictures very much. Jim D. from Massachusetts where it was in the
low 30's but felt like 20's with hard packed snow/glaze of ice on many side
roads.

Not 100% positive, but I think Specialized MTBs of that era were
produced by Giant Bicycles. "MY" is probably a date code of some sort.

Well, we made it! 8 of us left and 8 returned to Ocenaside. We had a
beautiful day and beautiful scenery! The ride ended up being 46 miles
with 2200 feet of climbing, we completed it in just about 3.5 hours
(we were in no hurry...) Great pizza and hops was had by all, a truely
great Rivendell day!

Might also be "Merida", as they fabricated for Specialized as well.

I was at Rivendell yesterday and casually asked if they planned to
offer panniers. The answer was "probably not anytime soon."

Today, 8 riders did 47 miles in north San Diego County with zero flats & no
phenomenal avoidance stories. The group had never cycled together & no
problems with anyone getting dropped, impatient or other conflicts.

...and lived to tell the tale! Great ride! We'll have to show Tim around
pretty soon!!!
Eight folks braved the elements this cold and blustery Sunday morning.
Doug led us on a wonderful ride and showed me a lot of country that exists
right in the middle of suburban Southern California! Real go
That is a bummer as there aren't really any canvas panniers on the
market right now. The Berthouds are too expensive for me. The
Carradice panniers are available in England, but I'm not totally
excited by the Super C bags. Ostrich looks nice, but availability?
Minnihaha panniers look like they mig
Really, very fun day: good company, great weather, and cold beer at
the end. Here's why I'm sore:
