For my ride this weekend (the STP, 2 centuries over 2 days) I'm going
to stick to PB&J sandwiches, HEED for the first couple hours after a
big breakfast, Perpetuum and Hammer Gel and Bars after that, along
with good real food as I see it along the way--j
The sesame crepes from TJ are really good. They fit the 250 calorie/hour
rate nicely, too.

Don't do anything new to yourself (food, liquids). Do what you always do.
I ride 50 - 100 miles on a regular basis with 2 bottles of water and 2
bananas.
Having said that, I ride mostly in the morning ~ 4:30am when it is not hot.

+1 on Perpetuum. I just discovered the Hammer stuff. Has worked well
for me on a few long rides so far...and hope it will work well on the
STP this weekend. I pack a peanut butter, cheese and honey sandwich,
and drink the Perpetuum from one bottle and plain water or HEED in the
