The front and back wheels were built by a former Rivbike dealer with plenty
experience (College Park Bikes in MD) with these types of wheels so I am
guessing all is well.

"Pinging" from a wheel typically denotes spokes unwinding. This usually
only happens during the first rides of a wheel that was built with spokes
that did not have their windup resolved, and the result is typically a

most of my good bike shops give me curb service on wheel truing, and each
one uses an electronic tension gauge when they're adjusting spokes. That
way nothing gets overloaded.
