I had one of these set ups on my Sam Hillborne for two years but sold it. I shouldn't have sold it...stupid, stupid, stupid. I've often thought of buying a new one but I am now using Sackville panniers in rear with a small trunk sack up front. 1. No, it is solid. I never had a problem with it
