I forgot to add: I highly recommend Chuck Schmidt's Velo Retro musettes. They handle loads up to 5 lb, but squish down to 2" X 2" X 1" and fit into small wedges or your pocket. I carry one in the wedge of each of my 3 bikes, for "emergency" loads or overloads. Chuck will custom print yours for the

Actually, we largely agree on our riding preferences. By far the greatest part of my riding is turning short errand rides into long detours; the gofast, for which I carry a musette tightly rolled up in the seat wedge, is for the more rare "just ride" rides. I get most of my riding pleasure by detou

That's for my musette. The 'five pounds' to which I refer is the collective weight of the groceries in *Patrick's* musette. The question for my own use has made me look at my small collection of musette-y bags, most of which are the canvas swag bags the East Bay Bike Coalition

Peter, you are looking at it all wrong. It's not how little a musette carries, it's that, riding the gofast on a pleasure ride, my musette lets me stop en route, shope, and carry essential dinner ingredients home. Indeed, i could have stuffed half the load into the new Banzer custom bag, but I want
