Actually, we largely agree on our riding preferences. By far the greatest part of my riding is turning short errand rides into long detours; the gofast, for which I carry a musette tightly rolled up in the seat wedge, is for the more rare "just ride" rides. I get most of my riding pleasure by detouring on errand rides, as you do.
To that end, I'm having Chauncey Matthews add, inter alia, lowriders to the fork of the '03 Curt so that I can add Sports Packers to the rear Roller Packers, as the '03 doesn't handle rear loads over 30 lb as obediently as the Ram did, or for that matter, as did the '73 Motobecane racing bike. Segway: ABQ is pretty good for riding, I must say. I'm sure the cycling population and the cycling infrastructure isn't as sophisticated as they are in Berkeley, but we do benefit from a lot of wide open, and cheap space (I right now ought to be writing a resume for a San Francisco realtor), and casual manners, so that wheeling a bike through a store is not a big deal, as long as the wheeler isn't a jerk.
