The sidewalls are definitly different. The Tserve are a solid black
rubber; The Pasella are a beige (nylon?) fabric. I ride a lot of dirt
roads and the tserves hold up a lot better.

Hey Seth, I've used both the kevlar and steel bead versions and didn't
really notice a difference. Definitely check out some 700x35s, whether
Paselas or T-serves, I'm sure you'll enjoy them.

I ride the 26 x 1.5 Pasela (non TG) and at full pressure, they feel pretty
fast, while still comfy.

Do you have any experience with kevlar vs steel beads? Does it change
the ride much?

I just switched out 26 x 1.25 Tservs for 1.5 inch Marsthon Racers and
am very happy. I'd say the racers feel almost exactly as fast as the
narrower tservs. The 1.5 in Pasela Tourguards I had felt considerably
slower. I also got my first flat in over a year. Maybe just
coincidence, but we'll se

I'm glad I wasn't alone there. I started with the marathons when I got

Does this explain why they seem to ride so much nicer? I traded from
schwalbe marathons to paselas TG and it
May your kindness be re-paid sevenfold. :-)
As to Paselas, yes, their sidewalls are a bit delicate (Tourguard and
regular).

The mention of sidewall cuts reminds me that the stock Paselas
suffered mightily from off roading. Never actually had a failure but
lots of small cuts in the sidewalls. The T-serv on the rear took the
abuse so well that I changed out the front Pasela before it wore out.
Of course this shouldn't
I have used both tires for the past few years, especially for
commuting. The Tservs are definitely more durable and puncture
resistant. The sidewalls last a lot longer. The Pasellas (TG)
probably ride just a little better but I haven't experienced any
difference in sticktion or cornering. For co

I've been using 700x35 Protex T-Serves on my Hilsen for the past
couple of weeks and I'm really happy with them. To me they seem to
offer the same ride as Pasela Tourguards. I'm hoping that the
sidewalls will hold up better. I'm going to use them this Tue on a
300k ride I'm doing with a friend. Th
T-servs were the first replacement for the Paselas that came on my
Atlantis. Definitely heavier, more sluggish and puncture resistant,
with about 4,000 miles of life (rear) vs about 3K for Paselas (not
sure which ones I had).

Great, thanks Nick. I opted for the Pasela's and put in my order with
my LBS.

I found the TServ's very dicey in wet conditions. They're sluggish
because they're very rugged and the profile is somewhat "pointed"
instead of being nicely rounded. Perhaps unfairly, I view them as
being partially responsible for a nasty crash on an off-camber turn in
the pouring rain -- so I s

I've got the tservs PTs with the reflective strip on our tandem. They
are more rigid than the skin-wall paselas but
I posted this on another thread by didn't get any answers. Anyone
ride T-servs before? How do they compare with Paselas?
Thanks!

When I say that, that's exactly what I mean.

Sorry, but I need to refine the reply that I gave to your thread. I
believe that you're correct, the "non"-TG model of the Pasela does
have a steel wire bead. Only the TG model is available as an Aramid
bead folding model (in addition to a steel bead model).

I think maybe I wasn't clear. I know that the tourguards are the
folding kevlar models, but people say they prefer the non-tourguards.

is there some other model I don't know about? Thanks!

No, they're referring to the Kevlar belt that is under the tread for
flat protection. The TG tire is available in both folding and wire
bead models.
