Website says $3K. And if the person who I think bought it bought it,
this is but one more addition to a very nice fleet 'o Rivs.

Keven told me today that $3000 was the winning price, and he called it
a 'screaming deal'. So I think he was a little disappointed. But
this final price doesn't surprise me all that much. I was hoping to
be surprised. Maybe Riv should have offered more OOAK (one of a kind)

I am curious how much they expected the bike to go for? I think I
woulda guessed $3000-$3200. A bike that is a personal thing and there
are a lot of things on that bike that I wouldnt want to pay for, but
would if the price were right-- so 75-80% of retail seems pretty spot
on. I can if there was

Sweet! there's been another bid on it. I hope they do more auctions
like this too. It seems like a great promotional idea, and all the
better if it can help raise money for Smile Train.

Keven told me that if it sells for $2700 they probably won't do
another bike, which is what I was afraid of. They need to at least
get wholesale for it to make sense. Too bad, really. Hopefully a
hero will come in and pay retail for it. It has a pamphlet! I bet

i'm SO tempted to bid, but with a PBH of 84.5 i just cannot quite believe it'll

I hope you are right about giving folks ideas on how to set one up.
The current bid is probably still below their cost on everything, not
to mention zero dollars to SmileTrain.

Great looking bike! I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to
build up my dream bike only to have it auctioned off... Maybe Kevin is
bidding under a pseudonym.

I think it's a smart and fun program. And if it doesn't catch on then
they're none the worse for the effort. I personally look forward to
seeing the other dream bikes.

I am not sure.
I see it as both a good deed - b
I think it all depends how you set up the Bombadil- particularly what
kind of bars/stem. If you use a Dirt Drop stem like the older
Bridgestone MB series bikes, the bars are going to be *really* high if
you size a bombadil like you would a level-tt bike. i have a 64cm
quickbeam that fits
Joel, I bet if you asked Grant again today, he'd say that a 56cm is a
better size for him (and for you).

Looking forward to this installment fun to see what they guys build up

With NAHBS just around the corner, it is fun to see Riv showing it
That's interesting, the upper lug on the headtube is different from
all the other Bombas I've seen...

Hhm,
I thought I noticed this frame quietly disappearing from the "frame
specials" section of the website. It was my favorite color there,
though the 48cm white with gold looks great, too.

Thank goodness it is several sizes too small for me...but boy does it give

Man that thing is soo nice. The paint and nickel-finish on the
bars looks mint. I like the 40-24t rings idea. I have the same
crank on my bombadil but with stock 40-32, and I think with more stuff
to haul, it could definitely be lower sometimes.
