Curtis, I think the fact that this is only a section of the tire vs. the entire circumference is the bigger question. Along with wheel trueness, maybe check to be sure that portion of the bead seated fully on the rim. Maybe it's not fully seated on that 1/3 of the tire. If that's good, and the whee

Wow, I've never seen a bike tire wear like that. On a car it happens due to misalignment. Besides the other ideas, perhaps one of your rear dropouts got bent and the wheel is canted slightly? ~mike Carlsbad Ca. On Saturday, May 3, 2014 7:42:19 AM UTC-7, Curtis wrote: > > Hi, > > Just wonder

Curtis: Drive side or off-side? Unless it's the lighting, it looks like the entire load has been on half the tire (give or take). When the tread is worn this far, the tire is worn out (or get ready to fix a lot of flats). I'm a bit lighter & regularly get over 5,000 miles out of a Schwalbe.

I've used the same tire for loaded touring and have put upwards of 7000km on each Marathon Plus rear tire. At 2000km the tire looked practically new. But, it does seem like a defect in the tire as if it was a tracking issue the tire would be wearing badly all round and the bike would be hard

I would expect 4k or more from these tires. Will check the wheel for true. On Saturday, May 3, 2014, Deacon Patrick wrote: > Then my informed but no direct experience with this wonders if it is a > wheel out of true, a deformity in the tire, or something similar. 2k ain't > long for a Schwalbe,

Then my informed but no direct experience with this wonders if it is a wheel out of true, a deformity in the tire, or something similar. 2k ain't long for a Schwalbe, so something is off. I would check the true of the wheel first. With abandon, Patrick On Saturday, May 3, 2014 9:47:25 AM UTC-6

Patrick, Thanks for the reply and excellent question. The tire is not wearing the same all the way round. About one third or a little more is very worn, to the point I think I need a new tire. The wear tapers to little ware for the rest of the tire. Curtis On Saturday, May 3, 2014, Deacon Patri

Curtis, runners who only run roads will often get issues with hips and legs due to the drainage slope of the road and they are always running with their left leg on the uphill side. Same would be true of bikes. So that may be a factor, but no idea how large. I doubt the front load weight more th
