Your taping job looks pretty good to me.
What are you trying to accomplish, exactly that your present tape doesn’t
do? More cushion? Nicer color? Longer life? More grip?
I know what I like and what I don’t care about and on the 1/1,000,000
chance that it’s helpful to you, I’ll talk:

@Rob,
Take a look at Crust's selection of bar tape. It's made of cloth with
adhesive backing.

Hi all,
I just recently installed Albatrass bars on my new to me Roadini. I also
installed bar end shifters. I'm thinking I'll wrap Newbaums tape for grips
but am considering some padding in the grip area. Has anyone used padding
or been able to slide an ESI type of grip over the shifters? I've
Thanks everyone one for the suggestions. I have yellow + amber on my
Atlantis which I do like a lot. This time around I am leaning towards white
+ amber (just slightly different). Will post the picture of the final
build!. Homers should be in anytime now. The wait is agonizing yet
wonderful! :)
I like Rich's idea! Yellow or white tape with amber shellac looks great.

Try yellow bar tape + amber shellac. Here is an in-progress image of just
that with five coats of amber. I used the same combination on a previously
owned Homer. Looks very nice paired with Homer blue.

Thanks Eric for your inputs . I might just go with white bar tape and amber
shellac ( classic French constructeurs style ) to add little warmth to homer
blue. If anyone else any other ideas or combination that works well with Homer
let me know .
Cheers ,

Has anyone tried cloth bar tape and shellac combination to get close to the
cream details on Rivendell. I am thinking of these two options
1. White + Clear shellac : I am assuming that clear shellac will slightly
tint the white
2. Viva toshi off-white tape + clear shellac.

I'm getting an error msg for the photo link.
Some amber shellac will darken cloth tape though.

The new-to-me orange Rambouillet is just about finished, except for bar
tape. The bike came with Trek blue tape, darkened from age. On a graphic

would stick with blue.
I wanted a really dark navy blue color, but such a co

I've been using Bontrager tape for the last few "wraps" that I've done. It
looks good (the brown color goes well with Brooks saddles and tan canvas),
provides good padding, and is long enough to wrap the bars nice and thick. It
also doesn't have permanent glue on the back, so you can unwrap and
Like Rene, I like Brooks and have become an almost exclusive user of

Long ago, when I had my dark green Bombadil, I used Newbaum's green tape
(sold by Riv) and amber shellac that I prepared myself. The color was
gorgeous and it would have been a great match for the green Sackville bags.

I love that for relatively cheaply ($10-$35) I can change out bar tape and
not only change the look of my bikes I can change the feel too. I've tried
the Newbaums and Soma tapes from Riv. I've got a couple rolls of their
Japanese tape sitting on my parts shelf for future use. I've also tried a
