For us Minnie-sohh-tens, 27 and sunny is a pretty balmy winter's day. Like
"woo-hoo, shirt sleeves" balmy. Even "oh, look, some oddballs in shorts"
balmy. After a few weeks of subzero (Fahrenheit) temps, 27 is downright
spring-like.
I get a chuckle out of most "winter" cycling clothing. Win
Living in NorCal, 27 and sunny is something I will never encounter.
27 only happens before sunrise on our coldest mornings.
It got down to 15 here once. In 1989 or so. Havoc ensued. Broken
pipes, cracked engine blocks, much trauma. I was working in a
unheated tin-roofed building, and there was

Now is probably the perfect time to be up there. Still dry(ish) but a bit
of green from the early rains.

Got an email today from a guy i last rode with 6months ago or more. Team kit,
cervelo carbon bike. Attached was a pic of his new bike. S&S coupled surly with

tires was surprisingly quick.
Could a Rivendell be too fat
Just realized another possible use for these - can't really fit pogies
on drop bars with bar end shifters. Will have to cut through
handlebar tape, and remove shifters/plugs before installing a pair on
my Hillborne before the snow flies.

You can't go wrong with the SM ride! It ends up being everyone's favorite
SoCal mixed surface once they get out there! What dates are you working
with?

That was my downfall too.
I dropped by several years ago and test rode a Rambouillet. I struggled to make
a decision and ended up with a carbon racery bike.
But the siren call persisted and I found a used Romulus. Then the real trouble
started and I convinced myself to get a custom Riv - best
That ride over the bridge is beautiful.
When there isn't a crowd it's great. When there is the summer scrum of 'take no
prisoner racer' types, 'what me worry' tourists, and everything in between, it
gets pretty weird. I've often wondered what the accident rate is.
I came over one sunny summer

I've been using Paul and IRD thumbie mounts to get the shifters off the
bar-ends simply so I can use swanky bar-end plugs. This new gizmo would
serve the same purpose.

That's what made me order a bike from RBW and leave my carbon/skinny
tired lifestyle behind--a test drive at Riv on a Betty Foy.

agree. It's fun at the beginning of a brevet at 6AM when you have the
bridge shared by a few dozen randos and nobody else. It's rewarding at the
end of a brevet in the twilight, despite the crowds.

It amazes me that non-cyclists do that ride over the bridge and back to
Sausalito. Even for an experienced cyclist, it's a bit hairy: Usually
crowded/cold/windy, with a huge descent at the end.

I believe that is no longer true with the new Campy Ergos. I remember a bit

Campagnolo Front Ergo Shifters are not really indexed. Lots of little clicks
and trimming options.
I haven't tried the ones newer than 2007, but the above is true up until then...

The shifting motion as seen in the video doesn't seem to offer enough

This much is true, but you can "stretch" the limits of the Fder, and
