I just saw this from the hiawatha blog but I thought I'd mention it.

I don't think it's a big stretch to say that bike looks a lot like an
orange sam.
gorgeous poster.
I have one of the ones from last year. Looks great on the wall.
Pretty Paramount and pretty daughter (grand daughter?).
How much for the Honjos?

I don't think that length would be a problem without an additional
stay. I've got a few fendered bikes, Honjo and Berthoud, and most
look about that length or slightly longer and they are pretty solid
without support. I did put some long Honjos on my Paramount

Thanks for all your input! I live in the bay area, so maybe I'll try to do a
test ride at RBW before I decide to bid.

I hope the no-updates to the Riv-site doesn't mean that there are no
bids yet. Is that like a quadruple negative?

I've eye-balled these fenders, too, since they've been listed on the
Riv web site with great curiosity. I like their length, the built-in
flaps, and the way the look in general, too, but a question I have is:
how stable will that additional extension on the front fender be

That silver one is pretty nice, but probably will be beyond my
budget. Thomsons are great as you can find used ones out there
pretty reasonably ($50 range).

Hi!
To me it seems you're right at the spot where there's no clear winner
without considering various factors.
If you like high bars (say, 2-3cm or more above the saddle) and intend
to avoid truly rugged terrain, I'd say the 60cm would be the default
choice.
If you like lower-than-that bars or r

If you call that a lot of post then I guess I count as a 'crotch
worrier' :). I'm glad I chose the 56 because there's a tiny bit of
room between me and the top tube on the 56, and there was zero on the
60. When I rode them both, the 60 just felt like a massive creature,
kind of like ridin
Thanks for the input, William. In my book that's a lotta seat post & stem. Why
are you glad you chose the 56? Was the TT too long on the 60? If so what TT
length and stem extension do you normally prefer on a 'non-expanded' frame?

Go for it, nathan! I'm at PBH 87 and ride a 56 Sam. I rode the 60,
and I'm very glad I chose the 56. Here's a photo of my 56 Sam with a

It's beautiful. I'm tempted… but is a 56cm Sam too small for me? I'm 5'11", 88
PBH, SH usually around 77-78. Would that result in a lotta seatpost showing /
would a 60cm Sam fit me better?

Yeah, the 56 Sam's are kind of a mixed lot at the moment. Of the 56cm
Sams they have in stock now, they apparently have some that are Taiwan-
made, still are $1000, take caliper brakes, and have a single top
tube. They also have some that are Waterford made, that run
Cantilever brakes, and have t
Agreed... Nice color. Double top tube on a 56cm?

A Riv leasing program would be great but probably very very
impractical for RBW but not for us...

Maybe Riv needs to offer a "perpetual" financing plan with automatic
monthly payroll deductions, where at some point one receives
electronic notification stating "Your N

That's pretty funny Ray. I've been in a similar spot since selling my

a new frame back in Dec when I sold the Ram. Instead I've been saving

I experienced the negative to saving for a bike this past winter. I
had money all saved and was one phone call away from ordering a
hunqapillar frame when my wife and I started preparing for another
Maine wintah. While lowering the storm windows they literally came
