I don't think my riding is slower when riding with fenders you could
probably measure it and you would probably be infinitesimally slower.
The benefits of having fenders would certainly outweigh any slight
drop in speed I'm sure. I don't usually transport my bike and have
never had the fenders get
How about natural cork? I had a sage green all-rounder that had that combo and
it worked well.

One idea - take a Paul Gino mount for the front fork and install the
computer there. Could use a wireless and make it look really clean.
That way, you'd have the info, but not be distracted by it. (Probably
not original with me. Bet there is a photo of that setup with a
"knob" mount.)

I have Thick & Zesty green camo on one of my bikes. Really like it,
but it does feel different. Looking at the Soma site, would think the
cork Aqua would look like a nice contrast with the frame.

I'm remembering a Bicycle Quarterly wind tunnel test which concluded
that front fenders reduced drag slightly, and rear fenders increased
drag slightly. Maybe it's the years not the fenders that are slowing
us down?

They certainly won't make it faster unless you have a rocket attached to
them... I think it's mostly a state of mind. They do keep me cleaner,

Nice bike! One suggestion--on my bikes with silver headsets and black stems, I
alternate black and silver spacers--it softens the transition and makes the
spacer stack a bit less obvious. To my eye at least!

fenders. Perhaps the combo of Berthoud fenders and SON hub stop them
