I ride the 52 Ram, and a 50 Saluki. The top tubes are the same: 53 cm. I also
would ride a 50 cm frame in a "normal" 700c wheeled bike. (I ride larger frames
using 650B conversions, but that's another e-list entirely!)

One thing I find odd about Rambouillets is the odd ump in size. I am
most comfortable on a 53 but should be fine on a 54. But the next
size lower is not only 2cm smaller but also has 26" wheels which will
cause a pretty big drop in standover height. So a 52 would definitely
100% be way to small.
Congrats! That's a very nice bike. Have had the opportunity to look
at it many times (am a regular at Hiawatha Cyclery). If my wife would
tolerate narrower tires and drop bars, might have purchased it for
her. Glad it is going to a good home.

If you have a tale to tell about them, I'd read it. Did you buy them
both new, deliberately wanting these two different bikes? How
different did you want them to be, expect them to be? Did you set
them up deliberately from the ground up to make them be different?

Mine is a 52 with 26" wheels. I run 37s in it (no 38s made for 26" afaik) and
