I've long thought that bike touring should be a broader, more inclusive term, not limited to multi-month expeditions with 100 lbs of extreme survival gear on the bike. Being somewhat put-off by cults of personality, I think there's enough of Grant in the various Rivendell pieces to give it a personal touch while retaining focus on the bikes and gear. After all, it is the bikes we are buying and enjoying. The whole Rivendell approach is quirky and self-effacing
