Why not use honey Brooks bar tape? Mine is wearing to the same color
as my honey Brooks Saddle. Now my Brooks tool bag is still honey and
my bars and saddle are now almost dark brown. All three have just
under three years and loads of miles.

My latest choice are a set of Merrill hiking boots with wool socks.
Heaviness varies with the cold. Have a couple pair of "heavy duty"
wool work socks (aka railroad socks) that are decent. Otherwise it's
often merino snowboarding or skiing socks. The boots were recommended

It looks like it would be fairly easy to sew in new straps that were
longer. In fact the way the bag is constructed you could do a number
of handle / strap mods. I could see the cotton webbing straps that
Lesli spoke of, or even leather handles.

Here in New England, I like any leather shoe with waterproof gunk on
it, and wool socks (smartwool is good)

I might be up for it, too. I just got a new AHH and wouldn't mind some
trail riding. My wife and I live in Boulder (for the past 12 years).
Incidentally, Jinxed, I'd just asked in another thread if you were
from Colorado. I saw that picture you posted concerning saddle and

Kip,
I would certainly be in for a ride next summer! My family has a cabin
up near Kenosha Pass too. On Park Co. Rd. 60 to be exact. That area is
great for riding with some unbelievable views and trails. I am sure I
could round up a few others to get involved. Certainly drop a line or

I've used Hydrophane Darkening Oil on both my Brooks saddles and had
great results. I've used it on our Saddleback Leather bags as well. It
goes on easily and darkens with each application. It's completely
clear and has no dyes. It's available online and at most tack supply
shops. I've also used O
The saddle will certainly darken over time, and will darken somewhat
with an application of Proofide. However if you treat the saddle with
Obenaufs saddle treatment it will darken considerably more. Weather
and use are factors too, but the treatments will alter it initially.

I've applied a few coats of Bullseye amber shellac over yellow

resemble the Brooks antique brown color. Will the shellacked bars

Does anyone have a first generation Rivendell Mountain Bike? I'm
talking about the bike in the 1994 catalogue that had drop bars. That
bike always excited me and I have been looking for someone who
actually has one. I've never seen a picture on the web or anywhere
else besides that catalogue.
You folks have fun. Wish I could be there.

I just took delivery of a new AHH and I picked up a Nigel Smythe

I'm still planning to be at the Toll Plaza at 0900 hours. We are still on the
road. We are in Williams, AZ now, heading west. Lacking a catastrophe, I'll

haven't ridden in nearly two weeks. I need this ride!
