Here in New England, I like any leather shoe with waterproof gunk on
it,  and wool socks (smartwool is good). I have one pair of Ecco
leather sneakers that are a favorite; another pair of Simple leather
shoes work well too.  I use to like Shimano sandals, waterproof socks,
wool socks.  I tried gortex hiking boots, but they aren't as
comfortable, and leather and layered wool is warm enough.  Having
enough toe room for good circulation is crucial for warm cycling
feet.
