I'm not sure how far out of sync your clock is, but if you're too far out of sync
ntpd will not sync your clock and you'll have to run ntpdate initially to set the
clock back in line. Once the clock has been set back, ntpd should set the system
clock just fine.

This is, in most cases, not possible since dependencies are different
- meaning: Some libs that the 8.0-rpms are linked against are not
present in 7.3 (and vice versa). Therefor in most cases it's not
possible to use these 8.0-rpms. If you manage to do so you should be

No. 8.0 rpms for the most part are binary incompatible with 7.3. 8.0 rpms
are built w/ gcc 3.2 and a newer glibc.

At home I have a desktop computer and a laptop both have Redhat 8.0

The desktop is acting as a firewall for anything sharing internet access
through it. I'm not sure exactly how you configure that but, the info
might help. You need to figure out what port RHN uses, and then open
that on whatever you can think of.

Remove the DRI entry in your XF86Config. As this will cause these sort of
problems. That should fix the problem. (As it's hard for me to say too, as I
have a GF4 Ti4600 Nvidia, and they recommend to have the DRI stuff removed).
