and another samba server to serve /home/"user" shares
?. If this can be done , how do i set it in the
smb.conf files.

Have you installed the php-mysql package? It should be on one of the
RH8 CDs.
You can run "php -m" to show the list of PHP modules you have on your
system, and mysql should be on that list.

You might want to check that the drives aren't faulty. I just had two
Maxtor 160GB disks fail and it turns out they were faulty. Download
Powermax from Maxtor's web site and test the drives.

i had a freind over here and his notebook has the same nic in it. we
noticed thatthe link would drop after he got an ip and was kinda flaky
he couldnt get an ip in phoebe with the nic. seems the driver isnt the
best i guess. my phoebe box with a realtek 8139 card had no issues
getting an ip.
