Getting closer.
Now at least using the command line,
echo 'lists' | mail majordomo
I get this. It is actually looking to deliver it to the command line. =
But not yet...
Jul 7 08:48:21 zeus postfix/pickup[95164]: 2AF4137FD740: uid=3D501 =
from=3D
Jul 7 08:48:21 zeus postfix/cleanup[96311]: 2A
to the next step
thanks for the pointers everyone. Most helpful.

majordomo: "| /usr/local/majordomo-1.94.5/wrapper majordomo"
owner-majordomo: postmas...@quantum-radio.net
majordomo-=owner: owner-majordomo
#lists
Nothing active in master.cf and nothing else related active in main.cf
A test mesage
echo ‘lists’ |
majordomo
through a pipe from the aliases file.
Time to look at mailman.
Thanks for the input.

Thanks Wietse,
I’ll start looking in those areas. I can see that allowing commands would be a
problem.

The problem I have here is that mysql aliases can’t deal with piped commands… a
can't run piped commands unless from alias map stored in unix...
However, an ancient how-to was posted on GreatCircle in 2002, but of course
it’s way out of date, and still doesn’t say how it’s connected into postfix
erwise.
But thanks, I'll have a look at mailman. Although I notice this mail list is
major-domo :-)
