The problem I have here is that mysql aliases can’t deal with piped commands… a
can't run piped commands unless from alias map stored in unix...

However, an ancient how-to was posted on GreatCircle in 2002, but of course
it’s way out of date, and still doesn’t say how it’s connected into postfix.
and oddly, still has piped commands in it.

So it can be done. It seems very convoluted, and I know I’m probably wasting my
time on this old software, but it would be nice to actually achieve this just
out of interest.

This is the problem line that can’t be put in anything but the standard
/etc/aliases file. Or the majordomo.aliases file.

majordomo: “|/path/to/majordomo/wrapper majordomo”

It also appears that almost no one in the world, ….. is doing this combination.
majordomo + postifx + virtual domains + mysql Or at least if they are, they
aren’t talking about it.

any ideas anyone on how to get that piped command running.

I’ll probably start looking at Mailman, but it may well be full of the same
problems.
