I did a bit more searching based on the log
"MPlayer interrupted by signal 13" and discovered that other owners of
DLink Routers ( I have the DIR-655) have been having problems with the
way RTSP interacts with its Application Level Gateway.

Tried this again today with all the latest stuff (nightly build of 7.1,
with KDF's latest Alarm and the latest Dynamic Playlist on Erlands

My first attempt seemed to have worked - using Softsqueeze the alarm

I have just bought a s/h nokia 770 with the intention of using it to
control SC and also replace my pronto to do all the rest of the kit -
lighting, tv, dvd etc etc. Trying to make the whole setup wife
friendly.
Is there any advice anyone can offer as to which direction to look in
