On at least 3 CPUs that Ubuntu (and other distros) couldn't do video detection
properly, I'd first load the Knoppix live CD, which would detect the video.
I'll then save the Xfree config file, then use the file for the other
distros, and they'd manage to load Xfree properly.

Gusto ko lang malaman kung hanggang ngayon, mas magaling pa rin ang Knoppix
kaysa Ubuntu sa hardware detection (experience ko two years ago...).

I think that the site:
http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/
provides a "fix" for the IPW3945ABG. The fix essentially involves
1. building from source the package ieee80211
2. installing microcode: ipw3945-ucode-1.14.2.tgz
3. installing regulatory daemon: ipw3945d-1.7.22.tgz
You should try this.

Hi Elmer.

No, not there. I found another nvidia.ko which belonged to an older
NVidia driver, but the oldest one is still around.

OK... now problems are coming in...
1. python /usr/lib/update-notifier/apt-check chews up all the CPU. I
need to kill it to make the system usable. I thought renicing would
help but it was already running at nice 19.

If I remember correcly, updating using the packages on the ISO won't

Yeah the http servers are hammered and even the mirrors aren't coping
up, despite the preparations (the final ISOs were ready at least 2

ISO faster rather than downloading it as a whole.

and it's still downloading.
