There are a number of ways to do "macro" since all lenses have a closest
focus. I like the idea of "little" but I think that the most flexible
approach would be the "big and little" combined theme.

Or use a wider lens (than 42mm) and crop the exact amount to get the
42mm angle of view...
Or use any M42 lens and pretend that it is what you understood...
